Our team supports rural American counties experiencing generational poverty.
We fund county level studies that provide a Guaranteed Minimum Income to folks while gathering sound, evidence based scientific data. We engage with existing local rural community stakeholders – veterans organizations, communities of faith, local businesses, and neighborhood groups.
We have fully funded GMI studies in three counties so far. We are working with GiveDirectly, building on their prior US GMI studies, assisted by OpenResearch, who conducted the largest GMI study in the United States from 2018 to 2023. We think those results show how effective direct cash transfers can be.
Our Plan
- There are 3,143 counties in the United States; approximately 60% are rural. Over time, with resolve and careful planning, fund rural GMI studies in all 50 states.
- Build a public, open repository of rural GMI study data to learn from.
- Demonstrate that direct cash transfers are a practical, efficient, simpler method of eliminating poverty and generating opportunity across all of America.
